His Excellency Stéphane Crouzat, French Ambassador to Ireland, Olivier Grossetête French artist from the People Build, and Catherine Gagneux, French Honorary Consul Galway-Connacht, at the People Build project for Galway International Arts Festival at Eyre Square.
The People Build project concept was to involve all people from Galway and curious visitors to help construct and erect a cardboard building. This process involved making the cardboard shapes, assembling the various shaped boxes with tape and lifting the structure until completion.
The overall weight was 1.2 tonnes and 100 people were involved in the last stage of the collective endeavour. The day after it was built It was knocked down, flattened, mostly by children, and recycled by the event sponsor, Walsh Waste.
