Many people gathered at Eyre Square last Friday for the arrival of The Maynooth Students for Charity Galway Cycle in aid of Little Blue Heroes were. The cycle, from Maynooth and back, covering 400 kilometers in total, was held in aid of Little Blue Heroes. Pictured before the arrival of the cyclists were Little Blue Heroes, from left, Jimmy Lally from Maumeen, Lettermore, Molli De Búrcan Rosmuc, Eva Bikovica, Westside and Seán Breathnach Mac Donnacha, Ros an Mhil. Behind are Garda Ronan McNulty, Garda Brian O'Donnell, Helen McEntee, Minister for Justice, Cllr Eddie Hoare, Mayor of Galway and Garda Madeline Curtin. With the group are Garda Mounted Support Unit members Garda Nives Caplice on Dualtaph and Garda Denis Farrell on Ruairi.
Little Blue Heroes Foundation is a charity voluntarily led by Garda members, retired Garda members and civic minded people from communities which is funded entirely by donations and fundraising. The foundation supports families of children with serious illnesses in Ireland while empowering the lives of children through positive community engagement. Their mission is to provide support to families of children who have serious illnesses in Ireland while granting the wish of the children to become Honorary Gardaí to empower the child and foster positive engagement with An Garda Síochána.
