Pat McPhilbin has been chosen as the overall winner in the Galway City Tidy Town Competition for his front garden at Emmett Avenue in Mervue. He also won first prize in the Mervue Residential Area category. Pat and his 96 year old mother Mary are pictured at the garden outside their home this week. Mary tended to the garden for 45 years with Pat taking over twenty years ago. The latest awards are two of the many they have won over the years. Pat stated that his mother still gives him advice on how to care for the garden.
