To Mark Eileen Molloy's 100th birthday a mass was celebrated at St Joseph's Church in the city last Saturday. President Michael D Higgins joined with Eileens family, relatives, neighbours and friends at the service. Following the mass Eileen, who comes from Camus and now lives in Davis Road in Shantalla, was treated to a surprise street party organised by her family and neighbours.
Eileen, a big fan of television presenter and Rose of Tralee host Dáithí Ó Sé, is met by him and Radio na Gaeltachta's Sean Bán Breathnach on her arrival at Davis Road. Daithu announced to the crowd "I am bringing her down to the Rose of Tralee ... we have a winner already".
