Olympic Boxing Club had 6 members competing last week to get through to the National Schoolboy Championships. They were successful with 3 of the boxers getting through to the Final with one Champion.<br />
Brandon Mongan won the Boy 3 48kg National Title beating Sean McGenity, Silverbridge Boxing Club, Armagh, on a 2-1 Split decision in Saturday's final. It was Brandon's 3rd win that week after beating David Nevin, Holy Family Boxing Club, Drogheda 3-0 unanimous in the Quarter final and beating Christopher Fisher, Oliver Plunkett Boxing Club, Belfast 3-0 in the semi final. Brandon is both the Galway County and Connacht Boy 3 48kg Champion.<br />
Eddie ward was narrowly defeated on a 2-1 split decision in the Boy 1 63kg final to Darren Darcy of Mullinahone Boxing Club, Tipperary, and Jamie Delaney just lost out on a 2-1 Split decision to Barry O'Connor, Sliabh Lurcha Boxing Club, Castleisland Kerry, in the Boy 2 39kg final.<br />
This weekend the club have 10 boxers through to the National Boy 4, Youth 1 and Youth 2 Championships.<br />
